What is this course?

Psychological safety has become one of the most talked-about ideas in NHS leadership. Every trust board is being asked about it. Every leadership framework mentions it. And yet, in the teams that need it most, it is often quietly absent.

This course is a practical, evidence-based day for people who actually work in NHS teams. Not a lecture or talking-heads webinar. A small, deliberately multi-professional group that uses experiential activities, live debate, real NHS inquiry case studies, role-play, and creation activities to answer one question: what does it actually feel like to create, and maintain, a psychologically safe team?

You will leave with three things: a clearer understanding of what psychological safety is (and isn't), a set of concrete behaviours you can use on your next shift, and a tangible artefact — a pocket guide, a ward poster, or an induction pack — that you can take back to your team on Monday morning.

An honest look at how closely your team — and your own day-to-day behaviour — already model the principles of psychological safety, and where the gaps are.
